Overview
College Park Woman's Club, Inc. was established in 1896
in College Park, Georgia. Our affiliations include the General
Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) and the Georgia Federation
of Women's Clubs (GaFWC).
The General Federation — the largest, non-denomination,
non-partisan, international service organization in the world
— donated 17 million hours and $50 million to 173,295
volunteer projects between 1998-2000.
The Georgia Federation of Women's Clubs founded Tallulah
Falls School in 1909 with one room and 21 boarding students
from nearby mountain areas. Today the school, still owned
and operated by the Georgia Federation, has 112 students,
27 buildings and 600 acres.
The 134-member College Park Woman's Club meets monthly in
its beautiful Camellia Hall, listed on the National Register
of Historic Places. The club has served the community for
106 years supporting not only its own projects but those of
the General Federation and the Georgia Federation.
Club members, as active leaders, help shape the character
and beauty of College Park through:
- active participation in community associations, beautification,
library and educational endeavours, conservation, the arts,
and philanthropy
- forging partnership with other organizations to enhance
the quality of life
- serving as members on Planning Commission, Board of Zoning
Appeals, College Park Housing Authority, Business and Industrial
Development Authority
- serving as the city's hostess
- opening Camellia Hall for civic, social, and governmental
events
